Searching For Online Writing Jobs – Do You Put Enough Work In?

When it comes to online writing and freelancing to find paid work, you will often hear people saying that there just isn’t enough work out there. Either that, or the writing work that is available is so low paid that it simply isn’t worth doing.

This is not true. Yes, there may well be low paid jobs available but that doesn’t mean that all jobs online are low paid. Believe me when I say there are plenty of better paid writing opportunities available that you can take advantage of. What you need to do is to put the effort in to actually find them.

What usually happens is that when people start looking for paid writing opportunities, they find all the low paid ones first. There are a lot of these about so you do tend to trip over them quite easily. Unfortunately many would be writers don’t progress from that point. They think that this is all that is available, and they give up accordingly.

And yet if you persevere, keep looking and keep working at finding the writing jobs you want, you will find them. I made a pact to look for online paid work of this nature every single day until I succeeded. And I also made a pact to look in more than one place too.

It took me two weeks to get my first paid article writing job. It wasn’t that highly paid but it certainly wasn’t one of those $1 per 500 word article jobs you often see on some sites. It gave me valuable experience, it was enough to get me started and I ended up going on from there and building up a portfolio of clients and places that I could get more writing work from.

The key to success here really is to put the effort in. Some people don’t do it enough. They expect to go onto the internet, apply for one job and then succeed and get it on the first attempt. But it very often doesn’t happen like that. It is much more likely that you will need to apply for several writing jobs before you will succeed in bagging the first one.

The best tactic to use is to consistently search for and apply for jobs, and then forget about the ones you have applied for. If you are unsuccessful it is very likely that you won’t hear anything back at all. This means that you could spend a lot of time and energy wondering and worrying about something that you will never find out about.

Focus on the next application instead. Focus on that next paid writing job and apply for it. And very soon you will get a reply which tells you that you have been successful.
