Want information on how to launch your freelance career in writing? There are many paths to success as a freelance writer, but there are some basic steps that nearly every writer takes to get his freelance writing career going strong. (These generally apply to those hoping to work in the internet freelance writing market.)
To start with, find the job advertisements. My advice is that you look into and bookmark around ten different online freelance job boards. Then, check out the new postings on each of them on a regular basis. You'll notice that there are different styles of online freelance job boards - certain ones you join as a member (some have upgrade possibilities, however you can start with a free membership), while other job boards give free access to all postings information. You can also get job boards where you upload your own work, and whoever is interested can give you a fee for the rights to it.
Next, take a chance. You will get NO WHERE with your freelance writing career if you do nothing but dream. Start with something not too challenging, with a VERY manageable deadline, and then do your very best to please your client. Contented clients provide nice references. Write well, and edit well.
Finally, develop good daily habits, straight from the start. Begin each work-day by designating your tasks for that day. Make up schedules and lists to keep yourself on track. Give yourself mini deadlines for the various writing jobs, and set aside a certain amount of time every day (give yourself a time limit) for scouting for new work. Resist the urge to surf the net for several hours at a time, even if it is for "research" purposes. So, find the freelance writing ads that appeal to you, startwriting, and develop good habits right from the outset. The three important basic steps to setting up your online freelance career in writing.
